Wiki Entry
Style guides, once the exclusive domain of print designers, are finding their way onto the web. Built out of HTML and CSS, such style guides are handy tools for the design process, for maintaining sites over time, and for making collaboration across teams much easier. Anna Debenham joins Jen Simmons to explain.

Ok, here's the deal with the contest to win a 2-day pass to Velocity Conference in Santa Clara. To enter, explain somekind of web performance speed tip — a tutorial, a tweet, a code snippet posted someplace, a cartoon, a comment, a case study — really anything that other people could find helpful in their quest for better web performance. And then put your tip out into the world with the tag #fastwebahead. Then ping me — on twitter by replying to @thewebahead, or contacting me through jensimmons.com/contact, so that I know about the bit you published.
Please don't think you have to already be a performance expert, or come up with The Most Brilliant Unique Thing Evar. Students, n00bs, everyone is welcome. If you care enough about performance to want to go to Velocity, then you actually already know enough to say something about why other people should care, too. Sometimes it's the simplest points that are the best.
This contest ends Sunday June 15, 2014 at midnight of the last timezone on planet earth (aka 6am Mon in NYC). (It started June 4, 2014 during the live broadcast of The Web Ahead ep 72.)
I'll look through everything everyone makes, and choose one tip. What will the winner win? One two-day pass to Velocity Conf in Santa Clara, CA, for the days of June 25-26, 2014, worth US $1625. Sadly, this prize does not include a travel budget, so the winner will be responsible for getting to Santa Clara, finding a place to stay & covering all travel expenses, etc etc. Please only official enter if you can get yourself to the conference.
I'll announce the winner on Twitter, @thewebahead, (and of course also contact that person directly). Good luck! Someone who listens to The Web Ahead is going to get to go to Velocity!
No purchase is necessary. Anyone in anyplace can participate. This free 2-day pass contest is sponsored by O'Reilly Media, Inc., 1005 Gravenstein Hwy N, Sebastopol, CA 95472.
